Volcano Mombacho
Friday, June 9th, 2006
This extinct volcano is located in Minutes away from Granada and Masaya. The 1,400 meter high volcano is home to rich vegetation, numerous species of birds, mammals and flora. At the top, is a museum, an observatory, and a couple of hiking trails. There are several stopping points along the trails where one can witness amazing views. From the volcano, one can see nearby cities. A must see for all Nicaragua tourists. Also available are canopy tours.

If you’re traveling through out Nicaragua and wish to get away from the busy streets of Managua, or the festivals and celebrations of Granada, you can always get away to Laguna de Apoyo. It’s a great place to find peace and quiet, swimming and best of all a guest house! La Orquidea offers a fully furnished guest house that can accomodate individuals, couples or families. The guest house is located at the edge of the laguna and offers a private beach. The house as well as the surrondings are nicely decorated and very colorful, thanks to Ken and Carol, your hosts. Be sure to find out more about the guest house at their website:
